Our History
Two parallel stories, one common ambition.
The roots of Linxens stretch back to the early 1980s with the design of an ultra-thin, flexible connector that enabled the very first commercial smartcard to connect and communicate with an electronic reader. In order to industrialize this product, specific equipment have been designed for reel to reel manufacturing enabling the very first Flexible Etched Circuit (FEC) – or smartcard tape – for smartcards to be born.
Our Origins
Over the years, Linxens has developed technologies and extended its field of activity to various markets, including healthcare, offering cutting-edge solutions for biosensors and patches. Nile AB started its journey in 2015 as Herpa Tech AB, as a technical converter partner to Herpaprint GmbH.
Linxens has grown both organically and through strategic acquisitions, reinforcing its position as a market leader and a trusted partner worldwide. In 2018, Linxens was acquired by Tsinghua Unigroup, the company’s main shareholder.
Meanwhile, from 2015 to 2021, Nile AB grew from 11 to 44 employees. At the end of 2020, the company moved to a brand-new customized premises that is a blueprint for a modern converting environment, giving us possibilities to optimize our production and to grow even further.
In 2022 Linxens acquired a majority stake in Nile AB, to leverage on our respective expertise and capabilities in the healthcare field.
By combining Linxens’ technological expertise and industrial footprint with Nile expertise in stick-to-skin wearables, Linxens Healthcare is now able to meet the growing demand of our customers for smart patches and wearables, be it in terms of innovation, mass production or quality of service.
